Arapahoe County Treasurer to hold supplemental tax lien sale

Sale of unsold tax liens in 2009 will be offered beginning Feb. 8

Arapahoe County Treasurer Doug Milliken will hold a supplemental online tax lien sale of remaining 2009 tax liens beginning Feb. 8.

Offered at the sale will be all liens that were not sold at the tax lien auction held in November 2009. These liens are now County-held certificates in accordance with Colorado Revised Statutes.

“The purpose of the supplemental tax lien sale is to further our efforts to collect unpaid property taxes,” Milliken said. “For those interested in purchasing a tax lien, a list is available through my office or when you register to bid at www.arapahoetaxsale.com.

The sale will be held online – similar to the November tax lien auction – but there will not be a competitive bidding process for this event. More than 600 property tax liens will be available for purchase during the sale.

The tax lien sale helps collect revenue for the County and other taxing authorities, such as local cities and towns, school districts and special districts, to sustain services for Arapahoe County residents.
