Centered in the middle of our calendar is the 4th of July break. What are you doing for the 4th? Where’re ya going over the 4th? Do you have plans for the 4th? Today it will be What, Where and did you?
What’s important to me is what the 4th means, where is resides on the calendar and did I make proper use of it.
What I mean is first, I just love all those tear jerking Lee Greenwood type songs about patriotism, the National Anthem and God Bless America all have special meaning on the 4th. They allow one’s mind to drift off to what really happened in this country during those early years, and it allows us to believe in the future of what this country could have moving forward. I just love that stuff. It always makes me a bit misty.
Second, the 4th just about splits the year in two. If you didn’t get it done in the first half of the year, here’s a nice break, go get it done in the second half of the year. It begs the question of what will I be thinking come New Years.
Last but not least, did I make proper use of the break? This is always a tough one. Family friends, activities, outdoor food and a gathering around a fire. What more could one ask for? Sometimes knowing the simple things in life are what make life worth living are the best things in life. Don’t you think?
So, remember what our forefathers worked so hard for, protect it, enjoy it and make proper us of it. I couldn’t ask for anything more. God Bless America!
